Our switchboard non-conductive mats are designed to protect employees from electrocution caused by high voltage equipment. We carry several types of non-conductive switchboard matting, each with characteristics of their own. The primary differences between switchboard mats is how much protection the mats provide. The most common type of switchboard matting are Type 2, Class II non-conductive mats that protect individuals from electric shock up to 30,000 volts.
The Type of switchboard refers to either a rubber or vinyl construction. Type 1 non-conductive electrical switchboard rubber matting is made from rubber, whereas the switchboard mats with a Type 2 classification are made of a vinyl composition. The Class characteristic refers to the level of protection offered, with Type I being the lowest level and the Type IV switchboard mats offering the highest level of protection.
